Kindersley Jr. Klippers defenseman Kyler Smith has been named to the RBC Community Ambassador team for his commitment to the community and leadership on and off the ice.

The 19-year-old rearguard is in his second season with the Klippers and has played in every game for Kindersley so far this season, collecting four assists so far.

An ambassador is selected from each of the 12 teams in the SJHL. Fans will vote on the SJHL website to determine who will receive the RBC Community Award at the end of the regular season.

Forward Tylin Hilbig was last season’s Klippers ambassador. Clay Sleeva – who was with the Yorkton Terriers but is now a Melfort Mustang – won last season’s award and was able to donate $2,500 to Canora Composite High School.

Smith will be recognized during the January 12 RBC Game Night when the Klippers host the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Klippers’ next game is against the Nipawin Hawks in Nipawin January 3.
