Sanker Named SJHL Goaltender of the Week
SaskTel SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Matt Sankner, Kindersley Klippers
2000 G Matt Sankner (Pennington NJ USA) made a statement this past week as he led the Klippers to a weekend home and home sweep of the league leading Battlefords North Stars. Sankner blocked 40-of-42 shots on Friday night as the Klippers emerged 3-2 overtime winners and then on Saturday, he turned away all 32-shots he faced in a 2-0 win as Kindersley won both games despite being outshot. Sankner has brought stability in the crease for the Klippers as he is now 5-2-and-3 with a 2.34-GAA and .935-SPCT since coming over in a trade from Flin Flon. Overall, he’s 8-3-and-4 with a 2.35-GAA and .936-SPCT. Runner-up: Berk Berkeliev, Melville.
