KLIPPERS WIN FINAL GAME ON ROAD SWING

KINDERSLEY KLIPPERS

The Kindersley Jr. A Klippers finished off a busy week of SJHL play with a three games in three days stretch in Weyburn and Notre Dame over the weekend. Game one in Weyburn was a high scoring 6-5 loss to the Red Wings Friday night. The team then traveled up the road to Wilcox to play the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday night and managed to get a point, losing in the shootout 5-4.

The final game of their swing was back in Notre Dame Sunday afternoon, and they got in the win column. Scoring in the victory was Danton Cox with his second of the season on the powerplay, and Cobe Perlinger got his fourth in the opening period. Notre Dame countered with DJ Freigang with his second of the season. The Hounds managed to take the lead with goals by Alexander Hollands with his fourth, and Cole Wirun with his team leading ninth of the season. Kindersley managed to the tie the score before the end of the period, as Tylin Hilbig got his team leading tenth of the season, with the assists going to the Cox brothers.

The third saw Kindersley pull away from the Hounds, as Keenan Ingram took the lead in goals on the team with 11 on the powerplay, with the helpers going to Alex Mack and Tylin Hilbig. Then the Klippers got some insurance, as Hilbig tied Ingram with his 11th of the season on another powerplay, with the assists going to the Cox brothers once again.

Both teams powerplays were deadly in this one, as Kindersley went 4-for-8, and Notre Dame went 2-for-4. Cody Jaman made 23 saves on 26 shots for the victory in the net for Kindersley.

The Klippers will now get a much-deserved break, as they will play the La Ronge Ice Wolves at home this Friday at the West Central Events Centre in the first of a two-game series which will conclude Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 pm.
