Klippers swap Sargent for Baier

DRAFT DAY MOVE BRINGS IN ELITE DEFENDER.
In sport, we know there will be highs and lows both on the field of competition and off. Today we as the Klippers Family are pleased to announce the acquisition of an excellent young man and hockey player and with gratitude and respect wish well to a player who has given his all to this club.

The Klippers were able to trade for one of the league’s top defenseman in Yorkton’s Tyler Baier and a 2017 6th round draft pick in exchange for Kyle Sargent and a 2017 4th round pick. Tyler comes to the Klippers after three SJHL seasons, all with the Terriers, where he has shown durability and consistency that will be highly valued on the Klippers blue line. With 56 points in 124 career games we are confident Tyler brings an offensive element that will make our team better.

Head Coach and GM Geoff Grimwood explains; “We are really excited to have Tyler. From playing against him the past couple of seasons we have identified him as one of the top players in the league. He brings size, skill, and leadership to our blue line and know our fans will appreciate his effort on and off the ice. “

In acquiring a player of Tyler’s caliber it is well-known an excellent player would be headed the other way. Kyle Sargent has been the model citizen for the Klippers as exhibited by Coach Grimwood’s remarks… “I am really disappointed to give Kyle up. He’s an extremely committed kid and a great teammate. Yorkton is getting a really good player.”

Please join the Klippers and thank Kyle for his contribution to the community and wish him well in Yorkton by following him @KSarg_18 on Twitter.

We invite everyone to reach out to Tyler Baier and welcome him to the community through social media @Baier88. Let him know we look forward to having him in the Green and White!
