Childerhose takes over for Jardine.

ELITE SJ ASSISTANT TAKES THE REINS.

Effective immediately the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers are proud to announce that Garry Childerhose will take over the duties and responsibilities as General Manager and Head Coach from Clayton Jardine, who has stepped aside to pursue other career opportunities. Additional managerial shuffling’s include Stef Corfmat assuming the Director of Player Personnel appointment and Larry Wintoneak adding Assistant GM to his title.

Clayton Jardine won the SJHL Coach of the Year Award in his inaugural season with the Klippers after guiding the upstart club to a 5th place finish in the regular season standings. Clayton instilled a great amount of confidence in his players and was a major reason for the Klippers making strides towards the consistent, championship hockey this town deserves. Clayton’s parents were both generous with their time in helping at Camps providing food for the scouts and for that we are grateful as well. The Klippers wish Clayton nothing but the best moving forward is his coaching career. Clayton can now be reached at 306-430-7998.

Garry Childerhose joins the Klippers after an impressive 5-year tenure as Assistant Coach/Assistant GM with the Flin Flon Bombers, including back to back trips to the Canalta Cup finals. Garry has been integral in Flin Flon’s development of exceptional talent on the ice with 3 players from this year’s team receiving NCAA Div 1 commitments, and 13 since his arrival in Flin Flon. This will be Garry’s first head coaching opportunity, although he has taken the reins temporarily as Flin Flon’s bench boss Mike Reagan took a number of Hockey Canada World Jr A jobs, going 13-1 in Reagan’s absence. Coach Childerhose was awarded the 2016-17 Dwight McMillan Award as the SJHL’s top Assistant Coach, an honor bestowed via voting by all the league’s Assistant Coaches.

Childerhose played his Midget Hockey in Pembina Manitoba before returning to Saskatchewan for his Junior A career. In 131 games played with the Melfort Mustangs Garry registered 92 points before committing to the State University of New York at Geneso, a division 3 school in North-Western New York.

In Childerhose’s time as an assistant in Flin Flon the Bombers have always been a team that has played with an extremely high tempo and with lots of skill, traits the Klippers organization hope to see make the trip south with him. Garry commented, “I’m extremely honored and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Kindersley Klippers organization. I’m very eager to start the process of meeting the players and working with the tight knit staff that is in place.”

Please join us in welcoming Garry to Kindersley. We look forward to the future with Coach Childerhose at the helm.
