Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

Klippers Announce Leadership Group.

Head Coach Clayton Jardine, Assistant Coach Larry Wintoneak and the entire Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers family is pleased to announce the following players who have earned the privilege to lead a great group of young men on our quest for a Championship on the ice and to be valued members of the West Central community off the ice.

1998 Goalie-Justen Close

Justen will not wear a letter but that does not in any way detract from his unquestioned leadership. Justen is the defending SJHL Goalie of the Year with laser focus on improving over last season’s accolades. Justen sets the tone with his dedication in the gym, on the ice never taking a drill off, and in the community with his volunteering.

1998 Forward- Josh Fletcher (A)

Josh plays every shift at 100% effort and demands his teammates follow suit. We are extremely lucky to have a young man of Josh’s character and dedication in this organization and mix in his uncanny breakaway and shootout percentage and we have ourselves a heck of a package. Josh can play anywhere in the lineup, on all special teams, and always lifts the play of his line-mates. Josh takes every opportunity to get better and we look to every player to match Josh’s energy.

1998 Defense-Blake Kleiner (A)

Since being acquired last season from Drumheller Blake has been a steadying force on the back-end for the Klippers both defensively and on the Power Play. With his experience in the AJHL and SJHL Blake will be looked towards as a guy who will lead by example and mentor a very talented group of young defenseman. Blake stands up for his teammates, expects effort and attention to detail, and isn’t afraid to be vocal in the room and on the bench.

1999 Defense- Brendon Borbely (A)

Another AJHL acquisition last season, Borbs came in as an 18 year old and promptly won the respect of his teammates, coaches, and Klippers fans. Brendon quietly goes about his business and is a model of consistency. Brendon can play on any pairing on the blue-line and can fill the role D-coach Larry Wintoneak asked of him night in and night out. We are happy to have Borbs back in the Double K’s.

1998 Forward- Cam Shorrock (C)

If you were to take a poll of all the Klippers forwards on who they would like to play with, they all say Cam Shorrock. Cam plays a hard game; always responsible in his own end and a relentless puck hunter in the offensive zone he opens up space for his teammates. An extension of the coach on the ice, Cam is a leader in every sense of the word.
