Ironhorse Kindersley Klippers add 9 in SJHL draft

The Ironhorse Kindersley Klippers have made 9 selections in the 2022 SJHL draft. The team held 2 picks in the first round at 3rd and 4th overall, which were used to select forward Brock Evans, and forward Casey Brown.  Evans, from Warman, played last season with the U18AAA Wildcats collecting 13 pts in 40 games played to go along with 36 pim and has some ties to the area as his dad is played his minor hockey right here in Kindersley growing up in Smiley. Brown comes from Regina where he suited up for the Pat Canadians U18 AAA team collecting 17 pts in 38 games played. The 5’10 forward also played for Team Sask at the WHL cup.

In the 2nd round, Rowan Guest was selected 16th overall. The 6’3 d-man from Saskatoon played with the Contacts U18 AAA last season collecting 8pts in 39 games and was a teammate of Brown at the WHL cup on Team Sask. The 3rd round was kicked off with the Klippers selection of Spencer Chestolowski from the Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA team. The 5’10 forward had 13pts in 42 games last season.

The Klippers held 2 selections in the 4th round at 38th overall and 45th overall, Tyler Phipps and Turner Krahn were the selections respectively. Phipps a 5’10 forward from Saskatoon played for the Blazers U18AAA team last season where he had 13 points in 41 games. Also a member of Team Sask he will suit up with the Contacts U18AAA next season. Krahn a 5’11 defenseman from Saskatoon played with the Tisdale Trojan U18AAA team where he had 1 point in 21 games.

Rounds 5 and 6 saw the Klippers select Carter Tuplin 52nd overall and Dawson Gerwing 64th overall. The Swift Current forward, Tuplin suited up for the Estevan Bears U18AAA team where he had 7 points in 43 games. Gerwing comes from Meadow Lake and the Battleford Stars U18AAA team where he collected 35 points in 39 games played to go along with 58 pims.  Gerwing was also a member of Team Sask in 21-22.

In the 2007 born portion of the 2022 SJHL draft the Klippers held one selection 16th overall which was used to pick Kelan Simmonds from Prince Albert. The 5’9 forward played for the Prince Albert Pirates U15AA team where he had 40 points in 31 games last season.
