The Klippers played their first home game of the new year, facing off against the Notre Dame Hounds. Zak Anderson opened the scoring for the Klippers, but the Hounds responded shortly after. Notre Dame would score the only goal of the second period, taking a 2-1 lead into the third.
Dawson Karol quickly tied the game in the third period, and after a hard-fought overtime session with no goals, the game went to a shootout. Unfortunately, the Klippers fell short, with Notre Dame walking away with the win.
The Nipawin Hawks traveled to Kindersley for a weekend series, and Game 1 saw a remarkable performance by Nipawin’s goalie, Gage Roberts. He posted a .974 save percentage, stopping 38 of 39 shots. SJHL Rookie of the Week, Avery Johnson, scored the only goal on Roberts in the second period. The next goal came from Cobe Perlinger, who sealed the win with an empty-net goal, making the final score 2-0.
Game 2, however, had a different storyline. Rylan Wieler scored the opening goal for the Klippers in the first period. Nipawin would tie the game at 1, but Klippers’ new addition, Mason Bueckert, quickly regained the lead. Zak Anderson then scored to give the Klippers a 3-1 advantage. In the third period, the Klippers’ offense exploded, scoring four goals from Avery Johnson, Brock Evans, Jacob Dennis (who scored his first SJHL goal), and Dawson Karol.
Goaltender Cody Jaman allowed just 1 goal over the two-game weekend series. Shayne Tibbles had a standout performance with 3 assists, while Bueckert made an immediate impact, contributing a goal and two assists in his second game as a Klipper.
