Game 1 on Friday was a high-scoring affair, with 13 goals being scored and the Klippers winning 8-5 when the final buzzer rang. Keenan Ingram of the Yorkton Terriers opened the scoring early in the game. The Klippers tied it soon after, thanks to Cobe Perlinger in his first game back from injury. Dawson Karol then scored again for the Klippers, taking a 2-1 lead, but Yorkton responded with Tyler Palin scoring a goal. Dawson Karol netted another goal, giving the Klippers a 3-2 lead, but Dustin Renas tied the game at 3-3 as the first period came to a close.
Alex Mack got the Klippers off to a hot start by scoring just 45 seconds into the second period. Kindersley began to pull away as Cobe Perlinger scored his second of the night and Dawson Karol completed his hat trick. Yorkton managed to score with 20 seconds remaining in the period, making it 6-4. Ethan Sautner added his third of the season, extending the Klippers’ lead to 7-4. Dawson Karol then scored his fourth of the night to make it 8-4, but Yorkton responded with one more goal, ending the game at 8-5. The Klippers took Game 1 of the weekend.
In Game 2, the match was scrappy throughout the night, with Klippers’ 20-year-old goalie Cody Jamam making his first start of the season after recovering from an injury sustained during the preseason against North Battleford. Yorkton got on the board first, with Carter Briltz scoring to open the game. Cam Perlinger tied it up at 1-1 before the end of the first period. However, Yorkton went on to score three unanswered goals, taking a 4-1 lead.
Zak Anderson scored two late in the second period, narrowing the gap to one goal as they entered the third. Rylan Wieler tied the game just a minute into the third period. The remainder of the period was intense and physical, but late in the game, Tyler Palin scored the game-winner for the Yorkton Terriers, making it 5-4 with two minutes left.
Some of Kindersley’s key players over the weekend included Shayne Tibbles, who recorded 6 assists, Dawson Karol with a 5-point weekend (4 goals on Friday), and Zakery Anderson, who also contributed 5 points. The Klippers are back in action next Friday night to take on the Weyburn Red Wings at the Interpipeline Arena.
