KLIPPERS BUSY SCHEDULE CONTINUES

Last week, the Klippers had a busy schedule with several games. They started the week in Notre Dame on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Klippers went into the third period with a 2-0 lead, thanks to Mason Eggen opening the scoring in the first period and Zak Anderson adding a goal in the second. However, Notre Dame scored four unanswered goals in the third period to take Game 1.

Wednesday’s game was a different story. Kindersley came away with a 6-4 victory. Stein Dostal scored his first goal of the season to open the game, and although Notre Dame tied it late in the first period, the Klippers regained the lead just a minute later when Ethan Sautner scored a highlight-reel goal between his legs. The second period was very back-and-forth. Dayton Tailfeathers scored just a minute into the period to make it 3-1, but Notre Dame crawled back to tie the game heading into the third. Notre Dame took the lead early in the final period, but the Klippers responded with three unanswered goals to seal the win.

The number-one team in the league, the Melfort Mustangs, came to Kindersley for a weekend series, and it was an exciting matchup. Melfort opened the scoring, but just 30 seconds later, Captain Ethan Hillbig scored a clutch one-timer to tie it up. Melfort would go on to score again, taking a 2-1 lead into the second period. Both teams scored twice in the second period, with Dawson Karol netting both goals for the Klippers. Heading into the third period, Melfort led 4-3. Both teams played excellent hockey, but neither could beat the goaltenders, and the game ended with a 4-3 victory for the Mustangs.

In Game 2, Melfort came out strong, scoring three unanswered goals in the first period. Jaxon Herchak scored his second goal of the year, the lone tally for the Klippers. The third period was again a tight battle, but like Friday’s game, neither team could solve the goaltenders, and Melfort completed the weekend sweep with another 3-1 win.

On Tuesday, October 26th, the Klippers were back in action in Wilcox to play the Notre Dame Hounds. Kindersley dominated the game, scoring three unanswered goals in the first period and adding another goal to open the second. Notre Dame responded with two goals in the second period, but the Klippers sealed the win with two more goals in the third, finishing with a 6-2 victory.

Ethan Sautner was exceptional throughout the week, earning SJHL Rookie of the Week honors after recording five points in four games. He added another two assists in Tuesday’s win over Notre Dame.

This weekend, the Klippers are back at home against the Melville Millionaires at the West Central Events Centre. The games are part of the Family Weekend celebrations, with Saturday, the 30th, also being Farmers Appreciation Night.
