BORBELY TO DRUMHELLER
The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers organization is pleased to announce the acquisition of Clay (’98) and Nate (’98) Keeley from the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for 1999 born D-man Brendon Borbely.
Nate and Clay have suited up for 103 and 118 career games respectively, all for the Dragons following stellar Midget AAA careers with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the same program that produced Borbely and current Klipper Blake Kleiner.
Brendon was brought to Kindersley last season from the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL and was a pillar of consistency on the Klippers blue-line playing in 57 games. Brendon was fantastic in the community, always willing to lend his time and effort wherever he was needed and exemplified the ideal Junior Hockey athlete in his relationship with his billet family and through his work with Klippers sponsor Magnum Cementing. The Dragons are getting a great hockey player and an even better human being from a wonderful family and someone who will be missed by the Klipper faithful.
By all accounts the Keeley brothers and their family is cut from the same cloth as the Borbely’s and we are excited welcome them to the Kindersley community. Clay and Nate hail from a farm outside Clareholm Alberta and bring a hard-working, intense mentality to the ice and a solid leadership pedigree to the room that will be valued greatly. Clay and Nate play every shift with maximum effort and will be looked towards to provide a physical presence in a heavy, hard-hitting SJHL.
Coach Jardine weighed in on the Keeley brothers saying, “We are excited about the addition of both Nate and Clay to our team. They bring over 200 games of AJHL experience, and 30 games in the playoffs. This immediately impacts our top four defenseman, and top six forwards. Both brothers expressed that they want to come in and earn the respect from their teammates and also, their desire to bring a championship to Kindersley.”
The Keeley brothers are sure to be fan favorites for the way they play the game and along with Head Coach-GM Clayton Jardine, Head Scout Stef Corfmat, and everyone here with the Klippers organization we welcome the entire Keeley family to the Double K’s.
Make sure to take advantage of your first opportunity to meet Clay and Nate by registering for the Klippers Hockey School the 27th-30th of August.
