Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers Aquire Goaltender in Multi-Team Trade

MULTI-TEAM TRADE WITH WEYBURN AND DRUMHELLER

The Ironhorse Kindersley Klippers acquired ’97 G Xavier Burghardt from the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) on Sunday in a multi-team trade.

The veteran goaltender is entering his third season of Junior A and hails from Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Heading the other way to Drumheller is Klippers ’97 D Austin Wong and ’97 F Mitchell Scott, who was acquired from the Laronge Ice Wolves for a Player Development Fee.

To make room for Burghardt, the Klippers moved veteran ’96 G Nathan Hargrave to the Weyburn Red Wings for a Player Development Fee.

“We are very excited to have Xavier join our team”, noted Klippers GM/Head Coach Geoff Grimwood. “He brings a lot of experience, is a great teammate, and a tremendously hardworking and disciplined player.”

“It is certainly tough to see Nathan and Austen go”, continued Grimwood. “They were both very good Klippers, very popular with their teammates , and both have a bright future. Nathan in particular was our longest serving Klipper and contributed a lot to our team.”

The Klippers would like to welcome Xavier, and wish Austen and Nathan and their families the best of luck going forward.
